(Emmetsburg)– The annual St. Patrick’s celebration is about to get underway in Emmetsburg. Stephanie Mehan is a board member of the St. Pat’s Association. She says it’s going to be a full weekend of events for the whole family…
“We kick off right away at 9:30 Friday morning at our St. Pat’s headquarters as we host The Chamber Coffee. At 4:30 the VFW hosts a fish fry which will move into hosting BINGO at 7:30 at the VFW; at 5:30 we start our annual St. Pat’s Bean Bag Tournament which is full; and at 9:00 we have live music with Kayla Daniels in the heated tent that’s located just north of the Irish Gift Shop.”
Mehan says Saturday will be an especially busy day…
“It starts off with the Around The Loch Scholarship Run hosted by the Iowa Lakes Community College. Then we have the Kid’s Zone at the heated tent that starts at 10:00. There will be free caricature drawings done; there’s flower crowns from willow trees being made; there’s a Bloody Mary Bar out at The Shores; West ‘O and Iowa Project Brewery will be hosting a craft beer tasting in the heated tent at 10:00; we have the chainsaw artist will be doing some chainsaw carving in front of the fire department at 11:00 with the famous Irish St. Pat’s Parade at 1:30. After the parade head to the fire station for The Social Gatherings Of The Clans. There’s a free movie hosted at the movie theatre at 3:30 also; and then at 5:30 we have the Rowan MCCactney Band that will play some live Irish music in the tent followed by the raffle drawings and auction of the chainsaw carvings at 6:00 in the tent, and at 8:30 New Trick will take the stage.”
Sunday’s events include a breakfast at 8:00 am at the VFW in Emmetsburg and trapshooting at 12 Noon at Sportsmen’s Park.
Hannah Noethe is this year’s Miss Shamrock; Mallory Peters is Irish Miss; Kendalyn Van Ginkel is this year’s Little Lassie and Charley Scheffield is Little Miss Shamrock.
