Disaster Drill Planned For Thursday At NCC In Sheldon

February 27, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Sheldon)– Emergency crews will be conducting a training exercise this Thursday at Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) in Sheldon. NCC’s Emergency Services Education Coordinator, Kevin Miller says multiple stakeholders will be involved in the drill…

“We just want to let everyone know that there is going to be a disaster drill being hosted by NCC’s Safety Committee here at NCC. It will take place at the LLRC here on campus and that will be closed to patrons during the timeframe which is on February 29th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm that day, and it will involve a multitude of stakeholders from emergency services to college staff, faculty, and students as well as bringing in different aspects of what a disaster may look like on campus as well as how can we mitigate it.”

Miller says the scenario they’re going to act out this time has to do with an active attacker. But in order to keep things a surprise for those involved — like it would be in a real emergency — Miller says no further details could be released.
