Collision In Everly Results In Multiple Citations Against Two Juveniles

February 26, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Two juveniles were issued multiple citations in a collision earlier this month in Everly that involved several vehicles.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded around 10:00 pm February 10th to an accident in the 100 block of South Adams Street in Everly. Based on an investigation and witness reports, deputies determined a juvenile female had been driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado southbound in the 200 block of South Adams when a juvenile passenger who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, grabbed the steering wheel and stepped on the gas. The vehicle traveled southbound at a high rate of speed and collided with a parked 1996 Subaru, pushing it into the rear of a parked 2024 Ford Maverick. Both of those vehicles were unoccupied.

Two females got out of the pickup and fled on foot. They were apprehended a short time later and were issued multiple citations. They were then turned over to the custody of their parents.

Authorities say one of the parked vehicles, a Ford Maverick, sustained minor front end damage, with heavy damage to the front and rear of the other parked vehicle, a 1996 Subaru. The Silverado sustained front end damage with air bag deployment. No injuries were reported.
