(Estherville)-The 14th Annual Team Amy Run will be held in May. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Organizers of the Team Amy Run in Estherville are seeking sponsors and volunteers for the annual fundraiser.
Amy Jensen’s Mother is Terri Hanson, who says the event benefits people in need in the local community. “When Amy was in the hospital and she knew it was getting to the end, she goes, Mom – don’t you buy a bench in my name or a tree. You give it to people in need. You know, we were in the children’s units because her type of cancer was a children’s cancer, and we saw so many families and people struggling with so many things. She just had a heart and wanted to give. She was a runner, and with her being a runner, her sister came up with this idea and we got enough people to put it together and it really has been amazing that we can turn around and give this money to help people that are in need.”
She notes that they are seeking donations and volunteers for the event. “Sponsors get on the back of the tee shirt for advertisement it’s $75. The day of the event we like to have a lot of volunteers sitting at all the corners just tp keep the cars back. It’s a good day to be out and interacting with people.”
The 14th Annual Team Amy Run will be held Saturday, May 11 in Estherville.
