Another Reminder Of DNR Hunting, Trapping Meeting Coming Up Tues. (Feb. 20th)

February 19, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Okoboji)– Another reminder of a meeting the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be holding meeting tomorrow (Tues.) evening to gather input on the recently completed hunting and trapping seasons. Chris LaRue, a DNR wildlife biologist, says they’re hoping for a good turnout…

“Comments are collected by the Iowa DNR at these meetings for consideration prior to any proposed rule or regulation changes and then presented to the Natural Resource Commission during a public meeting for consideration as well.”

He says the session will be conducted in a town hall setting…

“It’s a good time for hunters and trappers to ask questions, tell us what they liked and what they didn’t like about the previous seasons, and have a good discussion.”

LaRue adds there are other ways to give input in the event you can’t make it to the meeting…

“If interested people can’t attend, comments can also be sent in to wildlife@dnr.iowa.gov and those will be taken for an extended period of time.

The meeting tomorrow (Tues.) evening starts at 6:30 pm at the Maser Monarch Lodge, just west of the Dickinson County Nature Center. It’s one of several sessions that will be taking place around the state.
