(Ocheyedan)– An Ocheyedan man escaped serious injury in a single vehicle crash Wednesday in Osceola county.
The Sheriff’s Office says 73-year-old Darwin Van Maasdam was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger eastbound on Highway 9 near Taft Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle on the snow and ice covered road. The pickup went into the ditch and overturned.
Van Maasdam was helped out of the vehicle by a passerby and was taken to his residence.
Damage to the pickup was estimated at $5,000.
Authorities say the mishap took place around 6:10 pm.
