(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson County Supervisors also today (Tues.) held a public hearing on proposed recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Commission for revisions to conditional uses for the construction of any new wind turbines in the county. Some expressed opposition to any new wind turbines being put up at all, again calling for a moratorium. Others felt the revised setbacks being proposed aren’t adequate. Among those were Orleans Mayor Bill Maas. He says the current 1,600 foot setback from an occupied dwelling would curtail future growth of cities…
Milford Mayor Steve Anderson expressed similar concerns.
Following some further discussion, with Supervisor Tim Fairchild abstaining, a motion was passed for the supervisors to meet in a joint session with the Planning and Zoning Commission to further address some of the concerns. That meeting is set for 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 20th.
