DNR: Robin Sitings In February Actually Not That Uncommon

February 09, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Boone)– Robins have been spotted in Iowa this winter. Stephanie Shepherd is with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources…

“I think it’s not surprising that we’re seeing a lot more activity earlier this year. I’ve seen a couple of robins, too, lately.”

Shepherd is quick to point out, however, that isn’t really too much out of the ordinary…

“Some will actually stick around through winter if they can find a food source.”

Shepherd is a biologist with the DNR’s Wildlife Diversity Program.
