IGL Fishing Club To Hold It’s Annual Seminar & Fundraiser Thursday (Feb.8th)

February 05, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Everly)– The Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club holds its annual fishing seminar Thursday evening, February 8th, at the Hap Ketselsen Center in Everly. Club spokesman Dean Jacobsen says this year’s keynote speaker is Joel Nelson…

“He’s an outdoors communicator and media personality. He’s on a lot of tv shows and if you watch tv and fishing shows you know about Joel Nelson. He’s scheduled to be with us on February 8. Doors open at 5:30 pm; food starts at 6:00 and Joel will be talking to us at 7:00.”

Jacobsen says the event also features a raffle and auction to help raise funds for the club…

“We’ve become a good partner with Cory Ewing at the Waubay Guide Service up in Webster, South Dakota, and he’s donated this year a two person, one day, open water guided trip. That’s a $600 value if you go up there and hire him for a day for two people for a day it’s 600 bucks. So Cory is really showing us some appreciation in donating that, so we appreciate that. We also have, last fall, I went up to Manitou Falls Camp in Canada and Michael Anderson, the owner of that camp, started talking to me about the fishing club. He liked what we do so much, he sent me a certificate for buy one get one free for a full day fishing package at Anderson’s Manitou Falls Camp, so we’re going to auction that off as well.”

Thursday’s event is free to members of the Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club; it’s $10 per person for non-members. Club memberships will also be available at $25 for a full year.
