(Spirit Lake)-A big fundraiser is on tap this coming weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Humane Society of Northwest Iowa will hold their annual BINGO Fundraiser on Sunday at the Dickinson County Expo Center in Spirit Lake.
Shelter Manager Hailey Dirks says a wide variety of prizes have been donated for the cause. “We have some self-care packages, we have some goodies for your dogs, for your cats, we have some grill packages. We have a lot of variety this year which is going to be really nice. We are actually going to have all of the package information on the table so people can a peak and see what they want and go up and grab the package when they win.”
She adds that proceeds from the event go directly to the shelter. “The fee varies by how many BINGO cards they want to do. I believe it starts at $20 for a 3on, and then it goes up from there, $5 every 3, and then, dinner is $7, for a taco, a drink and a dessert. All the funds come back to us to help us with our basic maintenance fees. You know, our vet bills, our food bills, our medical bills. It’s not cheap to run a facility like ours. We’re not government run, so we rely solely on these donations.”
The doors will open at 11:30 with BINGO starting at 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon.
