(Okoboji)-The Rotary Car Drop Contest is underway. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Great Lakes Rotary Club is holding their annual Car Drop Contest, with the car placed on the ice in Smith’s Bay on West Lake Okoboji last week.
Board Member Melanie Becker says tickets are now available for a chance to win the grand prize. “So, we put the Rotary Car on the ice, and then people buy tickets. The tickets are $10 each, and you pick your time and then you get both a.m. and p.m. for the day. So, you actually pick one time and you get 2 chances to win $1,000 from the car drop.”
She adds the contest is big fundraiser for the club, with proceeds going toward special programs and projects. “We are partnering with the Dickinson County Behavioral Health Coalition to do Talk Dickinson LIVE. So, we have mental health meetings that we bring in speakers. The parents in Dickinson County can come in, it’s free, bring their kids. We’ll have day care there, they have a meal that’s all free, and they can listen to the speakers and it’s all about mental health.”
Tickets are available a several area businesses and online.
