(Estherville)– A man faces multiple charges in connection with a knife attack Thursday evening in Estherville.
Estherville police say officers responded a little after 8:00 pm to an apartment at 920 Central Avenue after getting a report of a disturbance. Police made contact with an occupant, who was detained while officers tried to determine who had the knife. A suspect was found hiding in a closet in the apartment and was identified by a witness as the person involved in the assault.
Police say the man gave a name of Olegario Lopez Diaz, but they were able to confirm a short time later his actual name was Robicel Abarca Hernandez. Officers also learned Hernandez and the occupants of the residence had been involved in a verbal dispute. Robicel then allegedly got a knife and threatened and assaulted one of the occupants. The victim sustained minor knife wounds.
Hernandez was arrested on charges of intimidation with a dangerous weapon…a class “C” felony; assault while participating in a felony…a class “D” felony; use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a crime…an aggravated misdemeanor; assault…a serious misdemeanor; and providing false information…a simple misdemeanor. Hernandez was booked into the Emmet county jail on a $15,300 bond.
