(Windom, Mn.)– HyLife Foods in Windom has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The documents were filed Thursday in Delaware. The paperwork says that HyLife foods has somewhere between 200 and 999 creditors, and that they believe the company will be unable to pay them after administrative expenses, though they did say they are still trying to sell their business.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture says they had a meeting Tuesday with other state and local officials, along with staff from the southwest Minnesota congressional delegation. Some of the discussion involved their assistance in helping to sell the facility. Their focus is supporting the 1,000 workers at the Windom plant should it shut down.
