Estherville City Council Hears Concern Over Speeding

November 08, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Estherville)– The Estherville City Council Monday evening heard from a resident concerned over speeding and what he says is a lack of stop signs in some areas of Estherville. He sited an incident in which his dog got lose from his yard on North Sixth Street and was struck and killed by a vehicle. He says many motorists in the city are going faster than the 25 mph limit in residential areas. He wants more signs put up…

“It was a tragedy for me to lose my dog but I know there are kids across the street from me, there are other kids down the street and other streets that could possibly be injured also. So I would just like for us to take a look at that to see if we can’t find ways to slow this traffic down a little bit more to help protect the children, the pets, and other residents here.”

The council referred the matter to the city’s Streets and Alleys Commission for a recommendation.
