(Spencer)– Wine and beer sales have been allowed the past couple of years at grandstand events during the Clay County Fair. Now, for the first time with this year’s fair, alcohol sales will also be taking place outside of the grandstand. General Manager Jeremy Parsons says a hospitality tent will be set up on the northeast side of the fairgrounds…
“That is not a beer garden, there’s no entertainment there. You can’t sit there until midnight and drink because it closes at 7:00. It’s 1:00 to 7:00. Again, you know, it’s going to be similar to Dish Plaza. It’s going to have, I think, 20-some picnic tables under it so it’s a place to go eat, and in the back of it is a trailer that will be selling Coke, beer and wine. No exterior signage. You won’t see a sign on it that says beer or Budweiser or anything like that. In fact, you’ll have to walk into a 40 foot tent, to the back of it, to see what we’re selling there.”
Parsons says alcohol sales will be transferred back to the grandstand during ticketed events.
The Clay County Fair powered by SMU runs September 10th through the 18th.
