August 31, 2022 Becky Thoreson

The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Induction Celebration is about to get underway. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will hold their 25th Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Induction Spectacular on Labor Day Weekend in the Iowa Great Lakes.
Executive Director Clay Norris says, festivities begin Saturday morning with the Rock & Roll Parade and Opening Ceremony. “The Inductees will start at the Bedell State Pier and we’re going to go up the beautiful Promenade and then we’re going to make the hairpin turn and then come back down Broadway to our Museum. Then, approximately 10:45 or 11 o’clock, we’re going to have an opening ceremony there and we’re going to have some dignitaries. Then, at 1 o’clock is Iowa Rocks Talent. At 5 o’clock, we’re having an Inductee Open House, and then at 7 pm on Saturday night, we’ve got this tremendous 25th Anniversary Inductee Celebration where we want to honor all of the Inductees from the past 25 years.”
He notes that Sunday is the big day with the Induction Ceremony and Concert. “At 1:30 is the Induction Ceremony at The Sami Center. Tickets are $10, and they’re available through our website. We’ll have autographs afterwards, and then, at 6:30 pm at The Roof Garden Ballroom, opened by the Iowa Rocks Talent Champions, will be the big Induction Concert.”
