Clay County Receives First Allotment Of Moderna Vaccine

December 23, 2020

(Spencer)– Clay county has received its first allotment of COVID-19 vaccine. Officials say the initial shipment of the Moderna vaccine arrived Tuesday at Clay County Public health and Spencer Hospital offices.

This round is specifically intended for frontline healthcare workers who regularly care or provide services for patients suspected to have or confirmed to be infected with COVID-19.

As we reported previously, long-term care facility residents and staff have also been identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as members of that priority group. They will be vaccinated through the national partnership with local pharmacies. Those pharmacy partners are expected to receive their vaccine supplies the week of December 28th.

A press release from Spencer Hospital says those who become eligible to receive the vaccine per their priority group will be advised as additional quantities arrive. That group will likely include those age 75 and older and frontline essential workers. A timeline for that priority group has not yet been established.
