(Spencer)– Multiple charges have been filed against a homeless man accused of leading authorities on a pursuit Friday in southern Clay county while driving a stolen vehicle vehicle.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were notified about the possible location of a vehicle that had been stolen from a residence in Spencer. Deputies located the Ford Explorer a short time later. They say it was occupied by 39-year-old Ralph Larvie. When they attempted to approach the vehicle, it took off, leading deputies on a pursuit on County Road M-27. Spike strips were deployed near the intersection with Highway 10. Authorities say Larvie then drove into a field where he was apprehended a short time later.
Larvie was charged with theft in the 1st degree, possession of a controlled substance…methamphetamine, eluding, speeding, failure to obey a stop sign, open container, interference with official acts, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to maintain control. Larvie was booked into the Clay county jail.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office, Peterson Fire and Rescue and Bud’s Service.
