(Spirit Lake)– Updated numbers are in from the Test Iowa clinic that’s been in operation in Spirit Lake now the past couple of weeks. Jennifer Gustafson of Lakes Regional Healthcare tells KUOO news since June 22nd, 1,576 people have been tested at the site…
“Out of those, there have been 73 people positive with COVID-19, so that’s about a 4.6 percent positive rate. And so we’re pretty happy with the numbers and how many people are coming through. That’s really great numbers. We are going to have the clinic open for sure through July 17th. At that point, then, we’re going to see how it’s going and make some decisions then. But at this point it will be open through Friday, July 17th for sure.”
She says the clinic will be operating from a new location starting next week…
“Unfortunately we’ve run into a scheduling conflict with the fairgrounds and so we are going to be moving the site on Monday, July 6th to a new location. The new location will be at the Lakes Area Hockey Association rink which is located at 3800 Sunner Avenue in Spirit Lake. It’s basically six blocks south of the current location and it is just north of the YMCA, the main location of the YMCA. Again that’s 3800 Sunner Avenue. On Monday, July 6th, we have to set up there so we’re going to be opening a little bit later than our normal clinic hours. Monday’s hours will be 9:00 am until 5:00 pm and then starting Tuesday, July 7th the hours will be what they have been, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.”
Out of the 1,576 people tested so far at the Spirit Lake location, Gustafson says they do not have a break down as to how many of those people are Dickinson county residents…
“The state notifies the patient and the county that the patient lives in and then that county’s County Public Health or the Iowa Guard contacts the patient for ATI tracing, we do know that, but we basically have to just kind of go off what the Iowa Department of Public Health lists on their website for the number of positives in Dickinson county.”
The Spirit Lake Test Iowa site is available not only to Dickinson county residents, but those from surrounding Iowa counties as well can get tested there. You do need to fill out an online assessment first, however, by going to Test Iowa-dot-com.
