(Undated)– It’s been a very busy day for area law enforcement and tow truck operators as icy roads sent many motorists into the ditch this (Wed.) morning.
So far, authorities say no serious injuries have been reported.
Most of the issues have been just to the east and south of the Iowa Great Lakes, including Emmet, Clay and O’Brien counties where authorities for awhile this (Wed.) morning were advising no travel.
Sheriff’s Offices in those counties say crews will continue to be removing vehicles from ditches throughout the day, and motorists are being told to use extreme caution when you come across something like that.
In addition, authorities say there still could be some slick spots out there as well, especially on city streets and secondary roads.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 4:00 pm for Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Emmet, Kossuth, Palo Alto and Pocahontas counties.
Forecasters say even more wintry weather will be headed our way Thursday into Friday, with a possibility of freezing drizzle and several inches of snow.
