November 06, 2019

(Jackson, Mn.)– Snow and ice were said to be contributing factors in some crashes Tuesday evening on Interstate 90.

The first took place around 7:20 pm near Welcome that injured four people from Jackson. The Minnesota State Patrol says 45-year-old Ma Teresa Cruz of Jackson was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty westbound when she lost control. The vehicle went off the road and went into a ditch, rolling multiple times.

Cruz, along with 47-year-old Enrique Tovar and two juvenile passengers were all taken to a Fairmont hospital with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

The other mishap took place shortly after 7:30 pm near Blue Earth. The Minnesota State Patrol says 42-year-old Stasha Benjamin of Jackson was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger westbound on I-90, west of Highway 169, when she lost control. The vehicle crossed the median and rolled multiple times before coming to rest in the eastbound ditch.

Benjamin was taken to a Blue Earth hospital with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
