(Des Moines)– Clay and Dickinson counties have lost out in their combined effort to be named a great place in Iowa.
It was announced late Monday Clinton, Coon Rapids and Sioux City are the first three cities that will get help from the state as part of the Great Places project. Guttenberg and Central City were picked as alternates.
Curtis Dean of Spencer was a member of the committee that put together the application and presentation from Clay and Dickinson counties. He says while they’re obviously disappointed, that they did come away with some exciting new ideas on how to jointly promote the two counties.
