(Spencer)– The city of Spencer is requesting a loan from the Iowa Department of Economic Development to bring a new manufacturing company to town.
The Spencer city council Monday voted unanimously to request a Community Economic Betterment Account, or CEBA Loan, to pave the way for the Kolman Conveyor Company of Sibley to bring 30 jobs to Spencer. The company manufactures conveyor systems and other equipment for the mining and construction industries.
In other business, the council accepted the low bid of 88,628-dollars from DeLoss Construction of Spencer for the Little Sioux River Trail Project; and City Manager Dean Torreson informed the council he will be attending an Iowa Transportation Commission meeting today (Tues.) in Council Bluffs. Torreson said he and a delegation of local residents will once again request the state put the Spencer Bypass back into it’s five-year program.
