Stolen Chlorine Tank Found

November 22, 2014

(Primghar)– A chlorine tank reported stolen last Friday from a rural water treatment plant in southeast O’Brien county was found Saturday in a ditch on the Clay county/Buena Vista county line.

The tank had 150 pounds of chlorine in it when it was taken. It wasn’t certain how much, if any, had been removed.

The tank was recovered after authorities received a report from a citizen around 4:00 p.m. Saturday. It was less than five miles away from where it was taken.

After determining it was good condition and posed no hazard to the public, the tank was taken back to O’Brien county by the State Fire Marshal and an O’Brien county deputy.

Authorities say the incident remains under investigation.
