(Milford)– Atleast one Dickinson county school district is reporting an increase in enrollment this school year.
Bob Miller, Superintendent of the Okoboji Community School District, tells KUOO news enrollment in that district is UP by 23 students from last year. Miller says the increase is fairly uniform across the various grade levels. He attributes most of it to an increase in students from outside the district who have open enrolled into the Okoboji School District.
Miller says whether the trend will continue into the future is anybody’s guess. He says enrollment tends to fluctuate a lot among school districts in the lakes area.
While enrollment is UP this year in Okoboji, it’s DOWN in Spirit Lake. As we reported previously, Spirit Lake’s enrollment this school year is off by 36 students from a year ago; Harris-Lake Park reported an INCREASE of one student over last year.
Terril is down 26 students.
