(Hartley)– A major fire is burning this (Tues.) morning at the former Beef Specialists of Iowa plant in downtown Hartley.
Personnel from atleast seven are fire departments are on the scene.
Hartley Mayor Rod Ahrenstorff says the blaze was discovered around 4:30 this (Tues.) morning by a neighbor who called 911.
There have been no reports of any injuries. An ambulance is standing by as a precaution.
There’s no word as to which part of the building the fire started or a possible cause.
Ahrenstorff says the BSI plant has been out of production several years and was most recently being used for storage.
Classes have been called off for the day at the nearby elementary school, and Hartley residents are being asked to conserve water as much as possible.
