(Spencer)– Clay county is a step closer to adopting a curfew for minors.
The board of supervisors Tuesday held a public hearing on a proposed ordinance prohibiting those under the age of 16 from being out later than midnight; for those 16 to 17 years of age the curfew would be 1:00 a.m. Violating the ordinance would result in a 100-dollar fine. It excludes minors who are with a parent or guardian.
Sheriff Randy Krukow says the proposed curfew is intended to cut down on a rash of vandalism in the county.
The cities of Spencer and Everly already have curfews for juveniles.
