(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson county will be getting some new voting machines through HAVA, or the “Help America Vote Act”.
The board of supervisors Tuesday signed off on a proposal to purchase one touch-screen voting machine for each precinct in the county at a total cost of roughly 120-thousand dollars. 117,300-dollars of that will be covered through a HAVA Grant that’s been awarded to the county.
County Auditor Nancy Reiman says the goal is to eventually switch over entirely to the new system.
