(Spirit Lake)– Parking in a portion of downtown Spirit Lake is about to get easier thanks to a donation of some land to the city.
John Brown and Central Bank announced Thursday they’ve purchased a lot on the northeast side of the intersection of Gary Avenue and Highways Nine and 71 are donating it to the city for use as a parking lot. Brown presented the warranty deed to Mayor Eric Nielsen in a ceremony late Thursday afternoon.
Brown said they’re making the donation as a follow-through in their working with the city and county on improvements in the area of the courthouse and the former fairgrounds.
The donated property is the former site of the Anderson Motors building.
