Tractor vs. Pickup Accident Sends Two To Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Everly)– Two people were injured today (Friday) in a collision involving a pickup and a tractor at the intersection of two county roads in the southwest corner of Dickinson county.

The Iowa State Patrol says the mishap involved a 1997 Dodge pickup driven by 33-year-old Daniel Johnson of Cherokee and a 1974 International Harvester tractor pulling a silage or feed wagon driven by 23-year-old Brady Follon of Everly.

Authorities say Johnson was northbound on County Road M-27 and attempted to pass the tractor driven by Fallon who was attempting to turn left onto County Road A-43 when the two collided. The two vehicles came to rest on some gravel just west of the intersection of the two roads.

Johnson and a passenger in the pickup he was driving, 19-year-old Brandon Coughenour of Cleghorn, were taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital. There was no word on the extent of their injuries.

The pickup, owned by Schoon Construction of Cherokee, and the tractor were both totaled.

Johnson was charged with passing within 10 feet of an intersection.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Everly Fire and Rescue, Spencer Ambulance and Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance.

The mishap took place shortly after 8:00 a.m.
