Spencer Teen Injured In Moped vs. Car Crash

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A Spencer teen is recovering from injuries she suffered after hitting a parked car while riding a moped.

Spencer police say the collision took place just before 8:00 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of West Fourth Street and 12 Avenue West. Authorities say 14-year-old Nicole Schiernbeck was eastbound on West Fourth Street on a 2005 Yamaha moped when she struck the rear of a parked car.

The teen was taken to a nearby home and transported by ambulance to Spencer Hospital.

The parked car, a 1999 Buick, sustained damage to the rear bumper, trunk and the rear left quarter panel estimated at 15-hundred dollars. Damage to the moped is around a thousand dollars.

No charges were filed.
