(Waterloo)– A convicted felon from Spencer has been arrested in Waterloo with a stolen gun.
On Wednesday Spencer police were contacted by Jesse Yeager of Spencer who reported the theft of a shotgun and hunting boots. A witness to the theft told police they saw 33-year-old John Allen Cole, Junior of Spencer leaving the area carrying the boots and a gun case. An arrest warrant was issued later that day for Cole charging him with fourth degree theft.
Police in Waterloo contacted the Spencer Police Department around 1:30 a.m. this (Thurs.) morning to report they had contact with Cole on a disturbance call and were checking the status of the warrant. Waterloo officers searched his vehicle and found the stolen shotgun.
Cole has previous felony convictions for burglary and drug possession.
He is being held in the Black Hawk County Jail pending his initial court appearance. He will be brought back to Spencer to face the theft charge in the near future.
