(Sibley)– Three Harris residents have been sentenced in Osceola County District Court on animal neglect charges.
76-year-old Mark LeRoy Shreve, 72-year-old Arlene Shreve and 38-year-old Mark Brenden Shreve were each convicted of five counts of animal neglect, all simple misdemeanors.
On each offense the defendants were sentenced to 30 days in the Osceola county jail with six days suspended during a two-year informal probation with the sheriff. All of the time will be suspended if the defendants jointly pay victim restitution to the Sheriff’s Office totalling more than 1,800-dollars and 66-dollars in veterinarian fees.
The defendants were also ordered to pay court costs and court appointed attorney fees.
The charges are the result of a search warrant executed at 1203 Vine Avenue in Harris. A total of 55 dogs and eight cats were living at the residence. The animals were removed and transported to the Humane Society in Sioux Falls.
