Xmas Eve Fire Heavily Damages Ruthven Restaurant

November 22, 2014

(Ruthven)– A Ruthven restaurant was heavily damaged by fire Christmas Eve.

Fire Chief Dave Smith says his department was called to Mama Moose’s at 3482 Old Highway 18 around 9:00 a.m. Saturday. Upon arriving Smith says firefighters found smoke coming from around some doors and a range hood vent.

After doing some ventilating, Smith says firefighters determined the main source of the fire was in the basement. He says there was considerable damage to the building, and is concerned over its integrity due to damaged floor joists.

No word yet on a probable cause into the blaze. A representative of the State Fire Marshall’s Office was on the scene Saturday afternoon.
