(Emmetsburg)– A Kentucky teenager has been hospitalized afer a snowmobile she was riding on tipped over on Five Island Lake in Emmetsburg.
17-year-old Courtney Kassel of Louisville, Kentucky was a passenger on a snowmobile operated by her 15-year-old brother, Jordan, when the machine tipped and the girl hit her head on the ice.
She was taken to Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. Her condition wasn’t immediately available.
Iowa Department of Natural Resources Officer Gary Koppie says the snowmobile was not moving at a high rate of speed when it tipped.
He says it began sliding on the ice as it was turning and the two teenagers lost their balance causing it to tip.
