Dickinson P & Z To Take Up Ethanol Plant Zoning

November 22, 2014

(Superior)– A proposal to build a 50 million gallon ethanol plant near Superior comes up against another major hurdle Monday (Jan. 16th).

The Dickinson County Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a request to rezone an area just west of Superior from Agricultural to Heavy Industrial. The commission takes up the matter at 1:00 this (Mon.) afternoon at the Dickinson County Community Building in Spirit Lake. The board of supervisors will act on the commission’s recommendation at their meeting Tuesday.

The matter must also go before the county’s Board of Adjustment which will consider a conditional use permit and variance. The board will take up those meetings Monday, January 23rd at 7:00 p.m. at the Dickinson County Community Building.

The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors in December approved a tax abatement for the project. Under the program, the county will abate 100 percent of the property taxes on the land for 12 years with a 50 percent abatement the last three years.
