(Ruthven)– No injuries were reported in a head-on crash Tuesday near Ruthven.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says the collision happened just before 5:00 p.m. about a half mile west of Ruthven on Highway 18.
Authorities say Donald Halder of Ruthven was eastbound in a 1992 Ford Explorer when he crossed the center line and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Anthony Howard of Indianola. Halder lost control of his vehicle as it began fish-tailing on the snow-covered roadway. Howard tried to avoid a collision by driving on the north shoulder, but the Halder vehicle continued to skid and the two struck nearly head-on.
Both vehicles were totaled.
No citations were issued.
