(Arnolds Park)– The “green space” just east of the Arnolds Park Amusement Park has a new name.
The site, which hosts concerts, festivals and other events, has been re-named “Preservation Plaza”.
The board of directors of Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated and The Messengers of Healing Winds jointly agreed upon the new name.
The two entities are involved in an easement agreement which will be held and maintained by the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation. It will protect in perpetuity the green space area and 460 feet of West Lake Okoboji shoreline near the amusement park.
Messengers of the Healing Wind contributed 500-thousand dollars to the initial “Save The Park” campaign in 1999 and an additional 500-thousand to Historic Arnolds Park Incorporated in 2005 in exchange for the conservation easement.
