November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– A special celebration is being planned next year to mark a special milestone for a long-time attraction at the Arnolds Park Amusement Park. The Legend Rollercoaster turns 80 years-old in 2007.

It was announced at today’s (Wed.) board meeting of Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated they’ll be looking for 80 sponsors who’s names will appear on banners, brochures, plaques and even on the seats of the rollercoaster to commemorate the event.

The coaster received some special recognition already this past weekend. The American Coaster Enthusiasts, with members from throughout the U-S and abroad, held their annual meeting at the Arnolds Park Amusement Park and officially dubbed Legend as a landmark for wooden rollercoasters. A plaque making the designation was presented to park officials, along with a five thousand dollar donation the organization made for maintaining the historic coaster.

Built in 1927, the Legend Rollercoaster is the 19th oldest operating rollercoaster in the world.
