Fire That Destroys Home Said To Be Suspicious In Nature

November 22, 2014

(Jackson, Mn.)– What’s described as a “suspicious” fire destroyed a vacant farmhouse early Sunday in southwest Jackson county.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says it received a report of a fire at a residence in rural Alba Township around 2:50 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies and the Brewster Fire Department responded initially. They were later assisted by the Heron Lake and Okabena Fire Departments, along with the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities learned the home, owned by Joe McCarvel of Brewster, was vacant. It was considered a total loss.

Officials say their investigation into the cause continues. They’re saying it was suspicious in nature and are asking anyone with information to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
