E’Burg Woman Seriously Injured In Single Vehicle Mishap

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– An Emmetsburg woman was seriously injured this morning in a single-vehicle mishap on Highway 18 about a mile east of the Cylinder curve.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says Marilyn Banwart was driving a 1998 Mercury eastbound when the passenger-side tires slipped off the road as she was rounding the east Cylinder curve. Authorities say Banwart over-corrected and the vehicle went out of control, sliding into the westbound lane. The vehicle went into the north ditch where it flipped…coming to rest on its wheels in a corn field.

Banwart was transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg and was life-flighted to a Mason City hospital. The extent and nature of her injuries wasn’t available.

The vehicle was totalled.

The mishap took place around 11:00 this (Thurs.) morning.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by a passing First Responder from Mallard along with the Cylinder and Rodman Fire Departments.
