(Spirit Lake)– It may not seem like it, but the start of school is just a little more than a month away.
With that in mind, Laurie Ruuf of Upper Des Moines Opportunity says they’re launching their 17th annual “Back-to-School” program for less fortunate children. Shopping for this year’s program will be held the evening of August 20th at Shopper’s Supply in Spirit Lake.
Ruuf says the goal this year is to raise enough money to allow them to purchase 150-dollars of new school clothing for each child in the program.
Donations for the program may be dropped off at Central Bank and Bank Midwest as well as any church in Spirit Lake and Upper Des Moines Opportunity’s office on the southeast side of the Great Lakes Mall in Spirit Lake. Priority One of Dickinson county is also helping out with its ‘Little Red Wagon Campaign’.
Applications for UDMO’s Back-to-School program are being accepted through the end of the month. Eligibility information is available by contacting Upper Des Moines Opportunity in Spirit Lake.
