(Spirit Lake)– A broken natural gas service line made for some excitement Tuesday evening in a Spirit Lake neighborhood.
It happened shortly after 5:00 p.m. in the 900 block of 11th Street on the city’s north side.
Spirit Lake Fire Chief David Kollasch says several houses in the area were evacuated as a precaution. Firefighters also stood by to keep an eye on things until officials with Aquila could arrive to repair the line.
Kollasch says it appears the line broke due to age.
He says crews managed to repair it without incident.
Evacuees were allowed back in their homes in about two hours.
