(Hartley)– Charges have been filed against a Hartley man after a search of his home turned up some methamphetamine and ingredients used to make the drug.
40-year-old Billy Joe Engelkes of Hartley was charged with possession of methamphetamine…a serious misdemeanor; possession of lithium with intent to manufacture methamphetamine…a class “D” felony; possession of pseudoephedrine with intent to manufacture methamphetamine…a class “D” felony; possession of anhydrous ammonia with intent to manufacture methamphetamine…a class “D” felony; and possession of anhydrous ammonia in an unauthorized receptacle or container…a serious misdemeanor.
Authorities say the charges stem from a search warrant that was executed today (Tuesday) on Engelke’s residence at 3283 Yew Avenue in Hartley. Engelke is being held in the O’Brien county jail on bond of 23,400-dollars. He’s due in court at a later date.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office.
If convicted, Engelkes faces imprisonment of no more than five years on each class “D” felony.
