(Spencer)– Replacement of the Grand Avenue bridge in Spencer is to begin this coming Monday, March 6th. That word from the Iowa Department of Transportation’s regional office in Sioux City.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of the project. The first phase of the project will allow for head-to-head traffic in the existing northbound lanes.
Drivers should expect slowdowns near the construction zone and are advised to choose an alternate route, or to allow for plenty of extra time to reach their destination. Motorists are being advised to pay close attention to traffic control signs and drive with extra care through the construction zone.
Christiansen Brothers, Incorporated of Cherokee was awarded the 3.2 million dollar contract for the project, which is expected to continue through most of the upcoming construction season.
