(Spencer)– For the second time in nearly a week, Spencer police have arrested a sex offender who failed to meet the guidelines of the state’s sex offender registry.
38-year-old Ricki Mengelsen was arrested Monday afternoon at the police station. He was charged with failure to comply with the sex offender registry…second offense…a class “D” felony.
Mengelsen’s last known address was at 315 East Second Street in Dickens. But a check of the home proved Mengelsen wasn’t living there. A warrant was then issued for his arrest.
He was booked into the Clay county jail on bond of nearly 10-thousand dollars.
Mengelsen was first placed on the sex offender registry in October of 2000. He was convicted of indecent contact with a female under the age of 13 in O’Brien county.
