(Spirit Lake)– It’s official–supervisors say the move into the first phase of Dickinson county’s new courthouse will, indeed, take place next week.
Supervisor Mardi Allen says the State Fire Marshall inspected the new facility Thursday and signed off on it, and that the city of Spirit Lake will be issuing the county a certificate of occupancy today (Friday). As a result, Allen says several offices will start moving on Monday.
The schedule calls for the Assessor and Recorders offices to be moved that day. Both offices will be closed Monday with the Recorder’s Office being closed Tuesday as well. The Treasurer’s Office and Information Technology Department will move Tuesday. The Treasurer’s Office will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday and the Driver’s License station will be closed Wednesday.
The Sheriff’s and Veteran’s Administration offices will move this coming Wednesday. The Sheriff’s Office will remain open throughout the move–Wednesday and Thursday in the old courthouse, Friday, March 17th in the new building.
The Auditor’s Office will move to its temporary location in what is now the Assessor’s building on Thursday. The office will remain open throughout the move.
The court system, including the Clerk of Court, judges and court rooms will move into the new courthouse a week from today (Friday, March 17th). The Clerk of Court office will be closed that afternoon.
Emergency Management, Community Services/General Relief and others will move into the new building Monday, March 20th.
The old courthouse will be closed to the public effective March 22nd.
County officials say phone will be cut over to the new courthouse next week as offices move. They say there’s a possibility you may get a message saying the phones have been disconnected. If that happens you should try again later.
Volunteers will be at the Dickinson county courthouse beginning Wednesday (March 15th) to help direct anyone needing to find an office.
