Blizzard Shuts Down Region

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A March blizzard has brought most of northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota to a standstill this (Monday) morning.

Eight to ten inches of snow has fallen on the region since late Sunday, and it’s being blown into a frenzy by northwest winds gusting to 40 miles-per-hour. Total whiteout conditions are reported in open areas this (Monday). Even in town the going is very tough. No travel is being advised.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office is busy this morning rescuing stranded motorists.

Numerous schools have cancelled classes for the day, and many industries are starting up late.
