November 22, 2014

(Sioux Falls, S.D.)– Two ethanol plants in northwest Iowa are expanding.

Broin companies of Sioux Falls has announced plans to expand two of their ethanol plants: Otter Creek near Ashton and Voyager Ethanol in Emmetsburg.

A press release from the company reveals plans to increase plant capacity at both locations to 100 million gallons of ethanol a year. Otter Creek currently produces 45 million gallons annually, and Voyager is producing 50 million gallons each year.

According to Broin, the expansion at Otter Creek will require an additional 19 million bushels of corn, while the Voyager plant will need another 17 million bushels to reach 100 million gallons of ethanol.

The expansion will increase production of Dakota Gold Distillers Products to 300-thousand tons a year.
