(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake woman has filed papers to seek the Republican nomination for Dickinson County Treasurer in the upcoming June Primary Election. Kris Rowley tells KUOO news she filed nomination papers with the County Auditor last Friday.
Rowley previously worked in the County Attorney’s Office as a Victim Witness Coordinator helping victims of crime. She is currently working part-time in the office as a para-legal.
If elected Treasurer, Rowley says she’d make the office more user-friendly, starting with the driver’s license service. She says keeping a more regular schedule of hours for the service will be a high priority as well. The driver’s license center is scheduled to be open Wednesdays, but has been occasionally closed due to various reasons. Rowley says the service needs to be more reliable. She says Dickinson county residents shouldn’t have to travel to a neighboring county just to renew their driver’s license.
Rowley, her husband Dave and four children have lived in Dickinson county ten years.
The office of County Treasurer is currently held by Democrat Linda Voss who was elected to the position in 1998.
